Commodore M. Abdul Rehman Qureshi SI (M)

Takes Over As New Chief Operating Officer

In January, there was a change in the Club management with Commodore M. Abdul Rehman Qureshi SI(M) taking over charge from Commodore Ghazanfar Abbas SI(M), T.Bt as the new Chief Operating Officer.

Commodore Abdul Rehman took over as the new Chief Operating Officer of KGC on 10th January 2023. Our new COO was commissioned in the Logistics Branch of Pakistan Navy in July 1990. He is a graduate in War Studies from PN War College Lahore and has completed his course work for Masters in Business Administration from IBA Karachi. His key appointments during the service include Secretary to Chief of Naval Staff, Attache Defence Procurement (Navy & Ai0 Washington, Coord Logistics PN 0HP Mission, Jacksonville Florida, Director Contract Management at NHQ’s and Fleet Supply Officer to Commander Pakistan Fleet.

His last appointment before retirement was Director Finance Karachi Shipyard and Engineering Works from 2016-2022.

He brings along rich and vast experience of playing as well as management of golf spread over 30 years. As a youngster he served as Assistant Secretary and Honorary Secretary Karachi Golf Club from 1993 to 2000. Later in 2O11, he became Club Captain of Margalla Greens Golf Club, lslamabad and on his transfer to Karachi he served on the Management Committee of Karachi Golf CIub from2OL5-2O2O. His stay in the USA afforded him the opportunity to play at PGA courses in the US including TPC Sawgrass, Congressional Country Club, Winged Foot, and Pebble Beach. Commodore Abdul Rehman an 8-handicapper has bagged a number of golf titles, significant among these are – Winner Net of CNS Open, lnter Services, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee and Sindh Amateur Golf Championships.

ln recognition of his meritorious services, the Commodore was awarded Tamgha-i-lmtiaz (Military) and Sitara-e-lhtiaz (Military) by the Government of Pakistan.
